AIRVEIL & Mask FAQ

Our products reflect our belief that beauty, fashion, and health should be fun, easy, and personal. Our masks are created to live with you, not on you, and enhance the awesome life you already live. Our products are designed to make your life better, healthier, and happier! They are meant to be touched, worn, shoved in a pocket or a bag, hung from a belt or strap, smooshed, traveled with, cherished, and shared! Remember, the filters are always replaceable! The whimsical designs represent fun and freedom and are the result of years of recommendations from design experts, health experts, and the coolest kids on the planet.

How are AIRVEIL filters and masks different from other brands?

AIRVEIL filters have been used as components in masks that earned the lab certificaton, an arm of the US Center for Disease Control. They are made of a patented electrospun nano-fiber. They are manufactured and packaged in the US. They abide by incredibly high standards of testing. Our mask brands are unique, original designs dreamed up by wild imaginations bouncing around the streets of New York City. We're out to help our customers be the best, most fun, healthiest versions of themselves.

When is the next product launching?

We’ll be coming out with new products very soon, including limited edition designs by popular artists—sign up with your email address to get the latest updates.

What size mask should I buy?

Small: Probably suitable for children, particularly small faces, or someone under 110 lbs.
Medium: Probably suitable for most average sized women.
Large: Probably most suitable for grown men, round or extra-wide faces or maybe someone 180 lbs and larger.

Can my mask be washed?

Wash your Happyface mask in a machine on low but do not put it in the dryer.  The ear loops are lycra and while they wash well, the heat from a dryer is not good for them and they will lose their stretch.

The AIRVEIL filter should be changed when it is soiled or worn enough to feel resisted breathing.  The filter will remain effective while moist or wet. The filters may be gently washed a couple of times by hand. After a few washings, the nanostructure of the fibers may be compromised.

How do I insert a new filter?

The filters slide in like a pillowcase. Simply side it under the inner lining of the mask. Smooth it out. The folds will keep it in place. Check out ourfilter instruction video here

What is nano-technology?

Nanoscience and nanotechnology involve the ability to see and to control individual atoms and molecules. Scientists and engineers are finding a wide variety of ways to deliberately make materials at the nanoscale to take advantage of their enhanced properties such as higher strength, lighter weight, and greater chemical reactivity than their larger-scale counterparts.

Please see our page on nanotechnology.

How long do the Airveil filters last?

The patented nano-fiber filters are more effective than activated carbon. These are very high-quality filters. However, each person who wears respiratory protection breathes differently, wears the mask for a different length of time, and in different air quality conditions. We recommend changing the filter when breathing starts to feel inhibited, changes color, or once a month. These filters can withstand water, so don't be afraid to wear it in the rain or high humidity. Also, don't forget to wash your mask!

What on Earth is a Carbon Offset?

Carbon offsets are a practical and effective way to reduce the effects of climate change by funding renewable energy, forestry, or clean water projects. These projects reduce emissions of carbon dioxide or other greenhouse gases in order to compensate for emissions made elsewhere, like the emissions created from ordering something online. On our website, EcoCart calculates the emissions created from your online orders and donates the exact dollar amount required to reduce those emissions directly to these projects on your behalf.

Do you do custom designs?

We’ll be coming out with new products very soon and we're always open to ideas! The filters are likely to stay the same, but our mask designs are ever-changing. If you're looking to do a bulk order or submit a design, please contact us at hello@happyfacemasks.us. We want to hear from you! Are you a designer? Send us your ideas and we may consider collaboration for our Artist Series.

I have a weird question and I want to talk to a real person about it.

We have people who love that kind of thing. To ask anything and get a quick, personal reply, email us at hello@happyfacemasks.us. Don't be shy!
